    About this role

    Role & responsibilities

    1. Engineering Drawing & Product Study

    • Study engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances and customer requirements.
    • Understand product construction and identify all manufacturing requirements from the drawing.
    • Identify special processes, critical dimensions, inspection requirements and manufacturing challenges.
    • Assess Design for Manufacturing (DFM) opportunities and manufacturing feasibility.

    2. Manufacturing Process Development

    • Develop the complete manufacturing process from raw material to finished product.
    • Define the sequence of operations such as cutting, forming, pressing, bending, machining, drilling, welding, fabrication, surface treatment, assembly and inspection.
    • Determine internal manufacturing versus subcontracting requirements.
    • Develop practical and cost-effective manufacturing routes.

    3. Material Identification & Consumption

    • Identify material grade, thickness, size and specification from engineering drawings.
    • Calculate material quantity, weight, consumption, yield and expected scrap.
    • Evaluate material alternatives and optimize material utilization.
    • Establish accurate material requirements for costing.

    4. Machine, Operation & Cycle-Time Assessment

    • Identify machines and equipment required for each manufacturing operation.
    • Determine operation-wise cycle time, setup time and processing requirements.
    • Assess manpower requirements and machine loading.
    • Consider tooling, fixtures, jigs and special equipment requirements.

    5. Manufacturing Process Costing

    • Calculate machine operating cost, labour cost, processing cost and setup cost.
    • Include tooling, fixture, welding/fabrication, surface treatment, inspection, packing and subcontracting costs.
    • Develop accurate operation-wise and product-wise manufacturing costs.
    • Maintain clear costing assumptions and calculation logic.

    6. Complete Product Costing

    • Prepare complete product/manufacturing cost based on the developed process.
    • Material + Process + Labour + Machine + Tooling/Fixture + Subcontracting + Surface Treatment + Inspection + Packing + Manufacturing Overheads.
    • Support commercial teams with technically validated manufacturing cost as the basis for pricing and quotation.
    • Review and update costing when drawings, materials or processes change.

    7. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

    • Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, cycle time, labour and processing cost.
    • Evaluate alternate materials, manufacturing methods, machine routes and process sequences.
    • Improve material yield and reduce scrap and rework.
    • Support Value Engineering and Design-to-Cost initiatives.

    8. Actual vs Estimated Cost Analysis

    • Compare estimated manufacturing cost against actual production cost.
    • Identify major cost variances in material, cycle time, labour, machine and subcontracting.
    • Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to close recurring costing gaps.
    • Maintain a reliable manufacturing cost database.

    9. New Product / Customer Enquiry Costing

    • Study drawing develop process identify material identify machines/operations determine cycle time calculate process cost calculate complete product cost.
    • Support Engineering, Sales and Management with timely and technically robust costing.
    • Participate in new product feasibility and manufacturing review.

    Preferred candidate profile

    • Engineering qualification preferred Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
    • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    • Hands-on understanding of sheet metal, press work, bending, laser cutting, welding, fabrication, machining, surface treatment and assembly.
    • Strong knowledge of material consumption, process routing, cycle time, labour, machine and manufacturing cost.
    • Strong Excel and costing-analysis skills.
    • Experience in precision engineering / elevator components is an advantage
    • Candidtae having Costing Degree like CWA or CMA is added advantge
