Costing & Cost Optimization Expert

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare detailed product costing and should-cost models.
• Analyze supplier quotations and prepare cost breakdowns for material, labour, process, overheads, tooling, logistics and margins.
• Lead supplier negotiations and validate price increase/decrease requests.
• Identify and implement cost-saving / VA-VE initiatives.
• Drive cost reduction through material optimization, alternate sourcing, process improvement and supplier development.
• Benchmark supplier prices and raw-material costs against market conditions.
• Support new product costing, design changes and target-costing activities.
• Maintain cost-saving trackers and report savings to management.
• Work closely with Engineering, Purchase, Production, Quality and Finance teams.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing costing and cost structures.
• Expertise in cost breakdown / should-cost analysis.
• Strong negotiation and procurement skills.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and raw materials.
• Strong analytical and Excel skills.
• Experience in VA/VE and cost reduction.
• Ability to challenge supplier pricing with data and develop competitive cost models.
