Cortex AI Snowflake Data Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Engineer with expertise in Snowflake AI/GenAI capabilities, agent development, data engineering, and Life Sciences/Pharma data domains to design, implement, and support AI-powered web applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building AI agents within Snowflake, developing scalable data platforms, implementing governance and compliance controls, and delivering AI solutions within regulated pharmaceutical environments.

Key Responsibilities

AI Engineering & Agent Development

• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents using Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Agents, Cortex Search, and related Snowflake AI capabilities.
• Build AI-powered services and integrate them with web applications and enterprise systems.
• Develop agent workflows, prompt strategies, RAG pipelines, and orchestration frameworks.
• Implement guardrails for responsible AI, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and content moderation.
• Conduct functional, integration, performance, security, and compliance testing of AI solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production AI applications.

Data Engineering

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and data products using Snowflake and cloud-native technologies.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT frameworks for ingestion and processing of structured and unstructured data.
• Develop data models, transformation logic, and semantic layers to support AI and analytics use cases.
• Implement data quality, lineage, governance, metadata management, and observability frameworks.
• Optimize Snowflake performance, storage, and compute consumption for large-scale workloads.
• Integrate enterprise data sources, APIs, vector databases, and external systems.

Pharma & Life Sciences Analytics

• Work with commercial, clinical, medical affairs, patient, HCP, claims, specialty pharmacy, and real-world data (RWD) domains.
• Support AI use cases related to Medical Insights, Next Best Action (NBA), Commercial Analytics, Field Force Effectiveness, Patient Services, and Knowledge Management.
• Ensure solutions comply with pharma regulatory and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate pharmaceutical business requirements into scalable AI and data solutions.

Governance & Compliance

• Establish AI governance frameworks, auditability, explainability, and risk controls.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable regulations.
• Support validation, documentation, and compliance activities required for production deployment.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Agents, Cortex Search, AI Functions, or GenAI applications on Snowflake.
• Strong expertise in Snowflake Data Cloud, data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and performance optimization.
• Strong programming experience in Python and SQL.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector search, embeddings, prompt engineering, and agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience integrating AI services with web applications through APIs and microservices.
• Experience implementing AI governance, security controls, and compliance guardrails.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Biotech domains.
• Familiarity with pharma data assets including IQVIA, Symphony, claims, specialty pharmacy, EHR, clinical, and medical affairs datasets.
• Experience with dbt, Airflow, Matillion, Dataiku, or similar data engineering tools.
• Snowflake and cloud certifications preferred.
• Experience working with regulated environments and validated systems.
