Empirical Media is a Bengaluru-based media agency. Our core practice is television advertising audit and measurement, and we are one of the strongest independent players in South India at it.

About this role

We are building our digital division from scratch. Not as a side service. As a full practice, with its own team, its own targets, and its own client roster.

You would be one of the first four people in it.

That means two things. The good part: you get to set how things are done here — the process, the tools, the reporting, the standard. The honest part: on day one there is no playbook waiting for you. You write it.

We are not a 200-person agency with a floor of juniors to hand work down to. We are a business with 20 years of client relationships, real measurement discipline, and a digital arm that is currently a blank page.

Why this role exists

Every ad, landing page, email and caption we ship starts as a sentence someone wrote. This is that person.

You'll write across categories and formats — one morning a jewellery brand's festive campaign, that afternoon a real estate landing page, then a healthcare brand's email flow. Range matters more than polish here.

What you'll own

• Copy for social media, digital ads, websites, blogs, email campaigns, landing pages, brochures and collateral
• Headlines, taglines, ad copy, video scripts and campaign messaging
• Basic design execution — you should be able to take a simple layout to a decent finish in Canva or Figma without waiting on the designer
• Brand voice consistency across everything a client publishes
• Light market and competitor research to make the copy relevant
• Proofreading and editing — yours and everyone else's

What you need

• 3–5 years of professional copywriting
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Proven digital and social writing — this is not a print-first role
• Solid understanding of branding, advertising and content marketing
• Basic design ability in Canva or Figma
• Attention to detail. Typos reach clients here — there is no proofing layer above you yet.
• Ability to run multiple projects to deadline

Nice to have

• Agency experience
• SEO writing experience
• Categories: FMCG, healthcare, real estate, retail, D2C
• Regional language ability — Kannada, Tamil or Telugu is a real advantage given our client base
• Comfort using AI writing tools well (we care that you edit them, not that you avoid them)

How we'll measure you in year one

• Volume and quality of copy shipped on time
• How often your first draft survives to publish
• Performance of copy in paid campaigns — CTR and conversion
• Brand voice consistency across accounts
• Editing quality on other people's work

Work sample to send

A portfolio or a PDF with five pieces: one social campaign, one landing page, one email, one long-form piece, and one thing you wrote that you're proud of for no commercial reason at all.
