Position Name: Coordinator & specialist- External Gear Shifting system

Qualification: B.E. /B. Tech, M.E. /M Tech Mechanical/Automobile

Experience: 15 to 18 years of relevant experience

Location: Pune

Purpose of the Position:

The Coordinator & Specialist External Gear Shift System is responsible for technical and project leadership of external gear shift systems across ICE, Hybrid and BEV platforms. The role owns product development, localization, supplier development, validation, release management, lifecycle support and budget control while leading cross-functional teams to achieve Quality, Cost, Delivery and Performance objectives. The position serves as the key technical and business interface between global engineering organizations, suppliers and Volkswagen India functions and contributes to organizational capability development and strategic localization initiatives

Authority:

• Functional ownership of External Gear Shift Systems across vehicle programs and product lifecycle.
• Approval authority for technical specifications, design releases, validation plans, engineering changes, and product improvements within delegated limits.
• Leadership of cross-functional teams, suppliers, and localization initiatives to achieve business objectives.
• Ownership of engineering budgets, product cost targets, and resource prioritization within approved limits.
• Representation of Volkswagen India in global technical forums and key stakeholder decision-making discussions.
• Authority to recommend development budget, supplier nominations, manpower requirements, and strategic engineering improvements

Skills Required:

• Engineering Leadership (Product ownership, design & release governance, validation & design quality) - External gear shifting system
• Program and project management
• Budget ownership and product cost optimization
• Excellent communication skills, English in written and verbal form, German / Czech Language Proficiency would be an added advantage.
• Supplier and partner management
• A Deep understanding of Indian Automobile market, vehicles, customer, product and manufacturing requirements and an ability to motivate and reason for it.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Own complete technical leadership of external gear shifting systems for ICE, Hybrid and BEV applications across development lifecycle.
• Lead project execution and ensure timely delivery of external gear shift system milestones
• Drive localization strategy and supplier capability development.
• Act as primary interface between Global R&D and Indian business functions.
• Ensure validation and quality readiness of external gear shift systems.
• Own engineering release and lifecycle management.
• Manage engineering budgets and product cost targets
• Develop team capability and foster engineering excellence
• Drive innovation and process improvements related to gear shift systems.
