Contract Manager - SCM (BESS - EPC)

Key Responsibilities:

EPC / BoP Tendering & Procurement

• Develop procurement and contracting strategies for BESS EPC/BoP packages.
• Prepare RFQs/RFPs, commercial schedules, scope documents and pricing formats.
• Lead technical-commercial bid evaluations, negotiations and price finalization.
• Develop and manage EPC/BoP contractor and supplier base.
• Ensure clear scope and interface allocation between BESS OEMs, EPC contractors and BoP suppliers.
• Support cost estimation, benchmarking and should-cost analysis.

Contract Management & Commercial Administration

• Manage EPC/BoP contracts from award/NTP through execution, commissioning and final close-out.
• Monitor contractual milestones, payment terms, advances, retention, LDs, warranties, guarantees and securities.
• Review contractor invoices, payment applications, measurements and supporting documents.
• Maintain contract registers, correspondence, variation and claims registers.
• Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices and maintain proper documentation/audit trail.

Variations, Claims & Risk Management

• Evaluate and negotiate change orders, variations, additional works and scope deviations.
• Assess contractor claims including EOT, delay, disruption, acceleration, escalation and cost claims.
• Validate contractual entitlement, quantities, rates, time impact and cost impact.
• Coordinate with Legal, Engineering, Project Controls and Finance on claims and commercial matters.
• Maintain commercial risk registers and mitigation plans.

Supplier / EPC Contractor Management

• Manage commercial interfaces with EPC contractors, BoP contractors, BESS OEMs and key suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance, procurement plans, long-lead items, manufacturing, logistics and site delivery.
• Drive recovery plans for delayed or underperforming suppliers.
• Support alternate sourcing and supplier development for critical packages.

Cost & Commercial Control

• Track budget, committed cost, actual cost, forecast cost and approved/pending variations.
• Identify cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities through negotiation, benchmarking and alternate sourcing.
• Monitor price escalation, forex, taxes, duties, freight and landed-cost components.
• Prepare monthly commercial dashboards covering cost, savings, claims, risks and key actions.

BESS BoP Interface Management

• Manage commercial interfaces covering BESS systems, PCS, MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, cabling, SCADA/EMS, fire protection, HVAC, civil works and grid interconnection.
• Ensure clear responsibility matrices for design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Identify and resolve commercial risks arising from package and contractor interfaces.

Contract Close-Out

• Manage final measurements, final accounts, release of securities and closure of outstanding claims.
• Ensure completion of contractual deliverables, warranties, test certificates, as-built documents and handover documentation.
• Capture commercial benchmarks, supplier performance and lessons learned.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Contracts, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related discipline.
• 1015 years of relevant experience in EPC contracts, procurement, commercial management or supply chain.
• Strong experience in EPC/BoP contract management, tendering, commercial evaluation, contract negotiation, variations, claims and final account settlement.
• Experience in BESS, renewable energy, power, substations, grid infrastructure or large infrastructure EPC projects is preferred.
• Candidates with hands-on experience in utility-scale BESS / Solar + Storage / Renewable Energy EPC projects will be preferred.
• Experience managing local and international suppliers/contractors is desirable.
