Continental Chef

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Continental Chef to join our professional kitchen team in Christchurch, New Zealand. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Continental and international cuisine, excellent food preparation and cooking skills, and a thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Continental and international cuisine according to established recipes and kitchen standards.
• Perform food preparation and apply appropriate cooking techniques to ensure consistent quality.
• Handle and prepare meat and poultry safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and food handling.
• Ensure proper food presentation, portion control, and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment.
• Support daily kitchen operations and coordinate effectively with other kitchen team members.
• Follow kitchen procedures and maintain consistency in food quality and preparation.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Continental Chef or Chef.
• Strong knowledge of Continental and international cuisines.
• Good understanding of cooking methods, food preparation, and meat and poultry handling.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and professional kitchen practices.
• Ability to maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency.
• Reliable, disciplined, and team-oriented, with the ability to work efficiently in a professional kitchen.
• Relevant culinary qualification preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Mandatory Experience Verification

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of genuine, relevant, and verifiable work experience as a Continental Chef/Chef.

Candidates must be able to provide supporting employment evidence, including:

• Payslips covering the relevant employment period.
• Corresponding bank statements showing salary payments for that period.
• Additional employment records, if required for verification.

The year in which the experience was gained is not a deciding factor, provided the candidate can demonstrate at least 2 years of relevant and verifiable experience.
