The Consulting Systems Engineer - Messaging role is responsible for the architecture, technical review, implementation, administration, troubleshooting, analysis, and consulting support of assigned messaging and systems software platforms. This position primarily supports enterprise email and messaging hygiene environments, including ongoing administration, operational support, and technical consultation.
The role requires a highly motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision in a technically complex and demanding environment. The position also calls for strong judgment, sound decision-making, and the ability to mentor junior team members, including serving as a team lead for messaging-related solutions when needed. Candidates should have experience with Proofpoint POD, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365. This role also requires participation in 24x7 on-call support.

Reports directly to (Title): Consulting Systems Engineer - Messaging
Matrix reports to (Title): Works closely with HCA US Messaging team, Networking team, Vendors, and End Users

Responsibilities
- Improve and automate operational processes and routine tasks to support efficient administration of services.
- Provide overall technical support, system configuration, and Tier 3 end-user support for enterprise email platforms, with strong emphasis on Exchange.
- Develop, update, and maintain documentation for both existing systems and newly implemented products.
- Respond to ad hoc questions and stakeholder requests, escalating issues to management as appropriate.
- Research emerging technologies and industry best practices to support infrastructure and systems improvements and recommend solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Follow and support established Change Management processes.
- Deliver technical support, guidance, and solutions to individuals across all levels of the organization, including support for a mobile workforce.

Education Experience
Must Have Skills
- Deep functional and technical expertise in enterprise messaging platforms, including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, PowerShell and email security/hygiene solutions.
- Working knowledge of integrated messaging and collaboration technologies, including directory services, mail routing, authentication, and mobile messaging support.
- Strong proficiency in process automation, workflow improvement, and administration of messaging services.
- Strong understanding of messaging infrastructure, mail flow, system dependencies, and platform configuration.
- Ability to analyze logs, review system behavior, and troubleshoot complex technical issues across messaging environments.
- Experience with access controls, security administration, policy management, and permissions within enterprise messaging and directory platforms.
- Experience with reporting, service monitoring, operational dashboards, and platform health analysis.
- Knowledge of data governance, email retention, mailbox lifecycle management, migrations, and ongoing platform maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical solution development in a complex enterprise environment.

Licenses, Certifications Training
- Required one of the following - Microsoft Certification: MCP, MCITP, MCSE.
- Required Proofpoint Certification - Protection Server Level 3.
