Job Description This role supports Procurement Transformation by designing, configuring, and enhancing Northern Trust’s Coupa Spend Management platform to meet the evolving needs of a complex, global organization. The position focuses on solution development, configuration, and continuous improvement , rather than routine operational support. The role operates under general supervision and applies independent judgment to carry out key activities. The Consultant partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, compliant system capabilities, while contributing to departmental priorities and platform maturity.
Job Summary As a Consultant, Coupa Configuration & Procurement Platforms, this role is responsible for configuring and advancing Coupa solutions that enable efficient, compliant, and data‑driven procurement processes. The Consultant serves as a functional liaison between business and technology, supporting solution design, build, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization. The role requires strong functional expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to anticipate change, recognize opportunities, and proactively deliver improvements across the Coupa platform, including emerging capabilities such as AI‑enabled features provided by the vendor.
Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and enhance Coupa functionality to support procure‑to‑pay, contracting, supplier, invoicing, and related business processes.
Translate business, operational, and control requirements into scalable Coupa configurations aligned with enterprise standards.
Lead configuration and build activities for new functionality, enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to assess needs, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend system‑based solutions.
Serve as a functional subject‑matter expert on Coupa capabilities, including AI‑enabled features, and support responsible adoption where they add business value.
Support integrations between Coupa and ERP or related enterprise systems in partnership with Technology teams.
Coordinate and support testing activities, including UAT preparation and validation.
Document configuration decisions, solution designs, and functional requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and departmental priorities.
Stay current on Coupa releases and evaluate new features to support platform evolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications For internal applications - 24 months as Associate Consultant
Bachelor’s degree required.
5–7 years of relevant experience with procurement systems, P2P platforms, or enterprise application configuration.
Hands‑on experience configuring and implementing Coupa solutions.
Strong understanding of procurement, accounts payable, supplier management, and contract lifecycle processes.
Experience supporting integrations between Coupa and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs.
Preferred Coupa certification(s).
Experience working in regulated or control‑focused environments.
