JOB DESCRIPTION CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN
Department: General Medicine
Position: Consultant Physician
Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Medical Director
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed patient consultations, clinical examinations, and medical assessments.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Provide OPD and IPD consultations as required.
- Review and monitor admitted patients and prepare appropriate treatment plans.
- Handle medical emergencies and provide appropriate clinical management.
- Interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic investigation reports.
- Refer patients to appropriate specialists whenever required.
- Coordinate with surgeons, specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality-improvement activities.
- Provide guidance and support to junior doctors and medical staff.
- Counsel patients and their relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in patient care.
Qualification
- MBBS with MD/DNB in General Medicine or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Valid medical registration with the appropriate medical council.
Experience
- Relevant experience as a Consultant Physician in a hospital or multispecialty healthcare setting is preferred.
