The Role As a Commis - Pastry, you will be an important part of the Pastry team, supporting the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, bakery items and other culinary creations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about pastry, enjoys working with a team and wants to develop their technical skills while learning from experienced culinary professionals.
What You ll Be Doing - Prepare daily mise-en-place and support the pastry team with production requirements.
- Assist the CDP, DCDP and Pastry Chef in the day-to-day operation of the pastry kitchen.
- Prepare pastries, desserts, cakes, bakery products and other food items in accordance with standardised recipes.
- Follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in quality, taste, texture, portioning and presentation.
- Assist with the finishing, decoration and presentation of pastry and dessert items.
- Pick up indented ingredients and supplies from the Stores and ensure they are handled correctly.
- Ensure proper storage, labelling and handling of food products and provisions.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workstation throughout the shift.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness across the pastry kitchen.
- Use raw materials responsibly and actively contribute to wastage control.
- Ensure effective utilisation of ingredients while maintaining product quality.
- Support the team during busy service periods, events and special culinary requirements.
- Coordinate and cooperate with F&B Service, Room Service, Purchase and Stores to ensure smooth operations.
- Report any quality, stock or operational issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all Soho House, culinary, health & safety and food hygiene standards.
- Take an active interest in learning new techniques and developing your pastry skills.

- Understands the importance of consistency, cleanliness and food safety.
- Can work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

- Is organised and able to manage multiple tasks during service.
- Is willing to learn from experienced chefs and take feedback positively.
- Diploma / Certificate in Bakery & Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant, bakery or premium hospitality environment.
- Fresh culinary graduates with a passion for Pastry & Bakery are welcome to apply.
