Select appropriate machining strategies, cutting parameters, tools, work-holding methods, and
    sequences.

Optimize programs to improve cycle time, tool life, productivity, and component quality.
Support introduction of new parts from development to regular production.
    3. Troubleshooting & Process Improvement

Troubleshoot machining issues such as dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, poor surface
    finish, burrs, and machine/program-related problems.

Identify root causes of production problems and implement effective corrective actions.
Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Engineering teams to resolve issues.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cycle-time reduction, productivity
improvement, rejection reduction, and machine utilization.
Monitor recurring problems and establish preventive actions to avoid repetition.
    4. Cutting Tools & Machining Knowledge
    • Possess good practical knowledge of cutting tools, grades, geometries, coatings, tool holders,
inserts, drills, end mills, and other machining consumables.
    • Select appropriate tools and cutting parameters based on material, component geometry, and
    machining requirements.
    • Monitor tool life and implement measures to improve tool utilization and reduce tooling costs.
Identify causes of premature tool failure and recommend suitable alternatives.
    5. Process Capability & Quality
    • Have a basic understanding of process capability concepts such as Cp, Cpk, process variation, and
    control limits.
    • Verify dimensions, surface finish, tolerances, and geometric features using a variety of measuring
instruments (Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, CMM, etc.).
Monitor critical dimensions and ensure processes remain within specified tolerances.
Work with the Quality team on process capability studies and corrective actions.
Ensure first-piece, in-process, and final inspection requirements are followed.
Promote a zero-defect mindset and reduce internal rejection and rework.
    6. Operator Management & Development
