Job Purpose
To operate and maintain CNC and EDM machines for precision machining, tool room operations, production activities, and technical training, ensuring adherence to quality standards, production schedules, and workplace safety requirements.
2. Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Operate CNC machines and EDM equipment, including Wire Cut EDM and Die-Sinking EDM, as per production and job requirements.
2. Perform machine setting, tool selection, workpiece alignment, and parameter adjustments to ensure accurate machining.
3. Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining instructions.
4. Execute CNC programmes and make necessary corrections to achieve the required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
5. Carry out machining operations for dies, moulds, tools, and precision engineering components.
6. Monitor machine performance and identify operational issues, deviations, and machining defects.
7. Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
8. Ensure quality standards and specified tolerances are maintained throughout the production process.
9. Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of machines and equipment.
10. Maintain machine operation records, production reports, and inspection documentation.
11. Ensure proper handling of tools, consumables, and machine accessories.
12. Follow all prescribed safety procedures and maintain cleanliness and discipline in the workplace.
13. Support practical training, demonstrations, and skill development programmes conducted by the Technology Centre.
14. Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other technical personnel to ensure smooth execution of assigned activities.
15. Undertake any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer or competent authority from time to time.

3. Essential Qualification

• ITI in Machinist / Tool & Die Making / Fitter or equivalent trade, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Tool & Die Making.
• 25 years of relevant hands-on experience in CNC and EDM machine operations.
• Practical knowledge of machine setting, machining processes, and precision measurement.

4. Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of CNC programming, including G-codes and M-codes.
• Experience in Wire Cut EDM and Die-Sinking EDM operations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
• Knowledge of tool room operations, die and mould manufacturing.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Understanding of industrial safety and quality control practices.
