Claim Analyst

Role & responsibilities

• Analyse claims, incident and operational data to identify trends, patterns and areas of risk.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, join, validate and analyse claims-related datasets.
• Use Python for data cleaning, transformation, analysis and automation of recurring reports.
• Review claims and incident information for completeness, accuracy and consistency.
• Analyse claim volumes, severity, ageing, turnaround time, frequency and resolution trends.
• Identify anomalies, discrepancies and unusual patterns within claims data.
• Build analytical reports and dashboards to monitor claims performance and key metrics.
• Automate recurring claims reporting and data-processing activities using SQL and Python.
• Monitor outstanding claims and identify cases requiring follow-up or escalation.
• Coordinate with Australia-based Operations, HR, Finance, insurers, brokers and other stakeholders to obtain and validate required information.
• Work closely with India-based internal teams to ensure timely completion of claims-related activities.
• Communicate claim status, issues, data findings and recommendations clearly to relevant stakeholders.
• Perform data reconciliation between claims records and operational, employee or financial datasets.
• Provide data-driven insights to help identify potential operational and financial risks.
• Develop recommendations to improve claims processes, turnaround time and accuracy.
• Support management reporting, audits and periodic business reviews.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong proficiency in SQL, including joins, aggregations, CTEs and data validation.
• Good working knowledge of Python, particularly Pandas and NumPy.
• Strong MS Excel and data-analysis capabilities.
• Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Indian and Australian stakeholders.
• Confidence in handling discussions and calls with Australia-based teams.
• Ability to clearly explain data findings and business issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and data integrity.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively across different cultures and time zones.
