Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Fractional CTO

Experience: 8+ years of engineering experience; 3+ years in a leadership role (Lead, Architect, VP, or CTO) within video tech, social media, or creator economy platforms.

Core Responsibilities

1. Technical Architecture & Strategy
Foundational Design: Architect a highly scalable, low-latency video streaming infrastructure (live & VOD) and a secure content delivery pipeline.
Tech Stack Selection: Finalize and own the core technology stack, balancing speed-to-market with long-term architectural stability.
AI & Content Automation: Guide the integration of lightweight, browser/mobile-side video effects and Generative AI workflows (auto-captioning, scene understanding, smart B-roll).

2. Hands-On Development & MVP Delivery
Code & Build: Actively write code and build prototypes alongside the early engineering team during the initial MVP phase.
Infrastructure Setup: Establish secure, automated CI/CD deployment pipelines, automated monitoring, and reliable cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
Vendor & API Management: Select and integrate third-party APIs for WebRTC, media transcoding, global CDNs, payment processing, and creator tooling to accelerate delivery.

3. Engineering Team Leadership
Hiring & Mentorship: Recruit, vet, and build an agile engineering team of full-stack, mobile, and video infrastructure engineers.
Process Excellence: Establish modern agile/scrum methodologies, clean coding practices, and systematic code review frameworks.


Technical & Professional Requirements

1. Video Infrastructure Expertise
Hands-on experience with modern streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, and ultra-low latency WebRTC).
Strong familiarity with media processing utilities like FFmpeg, cloud transcoding workflows, and content delivery networks (CDNs).

2. Full-Stack & Architecture Fluency
Proficient with modern backend languages (**Golang**, **Python**, or **Node.js**) and distributed microservices architectures.
Experience with cross-platform or native client-side frameworks (**Swift**, **Kotlin**, **Flutter**, or React Native) optimized for high-performance media rendering.
Solid database architecture knowledge encompassing relational (PostgreSQL), NoSQL, and fast caching (Redis) layers.

3. Product & Startup Mindset
* Demonstrated experience navigating early-stage environments, moving fluidly from abstract business logic to high-quality code.
* Strong product intuitioncapable of aligning architectural decisions directly with creator and viewer user experiences.
