CHIEF Accountant / Accounting Manager

POSITION: CHIEF ACCOUNTANT / ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Contract Duration: 2-Year Contract (Renewable)

Monthly Salary: USD $1,200- $2,200 (Commensurate with experience)

Preferred candidate profile :

We are seeking a highly disciplined, detail-oriented, and reliable Chief Accountant with extensive hands-on experience in manufacturing plant operations to lead our financial management in Uganda. The successful candidate will oversee full-set accounting, cost management, local tax compliance, and inventory control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cost Accounting & Analysis: Establish, monitor, and optimize manufacturing cost accounting systems; calculate BOM (Bill of Materials), labor, and overhead costs accurately.
• Taxation & External Reporting: Prepare and handle local monthly/annual tax filings, financial statements, and external statutory compliance in accordance with Ugandan tax regulations and standards.
• Inventory Control & Audit: Oversee raw materials, spare parts, and finished goods inventory management; conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile inventory variances.
• General Ledger & Financial Control: Maintain full set of books, ledger reconciliation, cash flow monitoring, and financial statement preparation.
• Internal Control & Governance: Enforce financial procedures, safeguard company assets, and maintain strict confidentiality and financial integrity.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Education & Certification: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. Professional qualification (CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent higher accounting certificate) is mandatory.
• Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Accountant / Accounting Supervisor, with a solid background in a manufacturing / factory environment.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (both written and spoken) as a daily working language.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. Tally, ORACLE, or similar accounting software) and advanced Excel capabilities.
• Core Qualities: High level of loyalty, integrity, professional ethics, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work independently in an international team environment.
