About this role
We are seeking a highly experienced Chartered Accountant (CA) to lead the Finance & Accounts function in our software product company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial planning, accounting operations, statutory compliance, taxation, budgeting, audits, MIS reporting, cash flow management, and financial strategy. The role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership capabilities, and experience supporting a high-growth technology business.
The candidate will work closely with the leadership team to provide financial insights, strengthen internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Payroll Accounting, and Revenue Accounting.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close.
- Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards (Ind AS/IFRS, as applicable).
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Present financial reports and business insights to senior management.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Monitor budgets and analyse variances against actual performance.
- Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
- Provide profitability analysis by product, customer, and business unit.
- Deliver actionable MIS reports and dashboards for management review.
- Ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax regulations, including Income Tax, GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinate tax assessments, notices, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and compliance reports.
- Liaise with tax consultants and regulatory authorities.
- Manage statutory, internal, tax, and secretarial audits.
- Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and risk management processes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial policies, SOPs, and control frameworks.
- Partner with Product, Sales, HR, Procurement, and Operations teams to provide financial guidance.
- Analyse business performance and recommend cost optimization initiatives.
- Support pricing strategies, contract reviews, and commercial negotiations.
- Evaluate capital expenditure and return on investment (ROI).
- Lead and mentor the Finance & Accounts team.
- Define team goals, monitor performance, and support professional development.
- Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate effectively with auditors, consultants, banks, and external stakeholders.
- Drive finance automation and digital transformation initiatives.
- Manage ERP/accounting systems and improve financial reporting processes.
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and integrity of financial information.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) - Mandatory.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounts, preferably within a software product, SaaS, or technology organization.
- Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, and statutory compliance.
- Experience managing audits, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting software (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Zoho Books, or similar).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS or subscription-based revenue accounting.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition principles (Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15).
- Experience in financial due diligence, fundraising, investor reporting, or mergers and acquisitions.
- Familiarity with international taxation and transfer pricing.
- Exposure to automation tools, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, and AI-enabled finance solutions.
