The Horizon Programme was my catalyst. I remember leaving my horizon interview and being amazed by the positive attitude that radiated from the building and through the people who worked there. As a young Christian woman, I knew it was a safe environment and that I was going to work here. I took every opportunity that presented itself to make that possible.
My mentor was a Godsend. I was shown different IT groups in Sun Life and that help broaden my knowledge of what I could do with my degree. She also helped to create an optimistic attitude around being a woman in tech which before seemed like a daunting role that I wasn't sure I was prepared for.
The Horizon programme really became an advantage and allowed me to get my foot back in the door twice. First as an Intern, where I gained practical real-life experience with my degree. And then as a full-time employee on a different team where I can play to my strengths and be surrounded by likeminded people.
