C++ Test Automation Engineer

Job Overview

C++ Test Automation Engineer with 4+ years of experience developing and maintaining automated regression testing solutions for a C++-based product. The candidate will be responsible for building automation frameworks, reusable automation classes and components, scripts, and test cases to improve software quality, reliability, and test efficiency.

• Develop and maintain automated regression test suites for C++ applications.
• Design and develop automation classes, reusable components, test utilities, and frameworks using C++.
• Develop automation scripts using C++, Python, or Bash.
• Design and implement automated test cases based on software requirements and specifications.
• Automate functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
• Analyze test results, logs, and failures; debug issues and identify root causes.
• Develop utilities for test data generation, log collection, result analysis, and automated reporting.
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to replace manual testing with automation and reduce regression execution time.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks and test infrastructure.
• Participate in test planning, design reviews, peer code reviews, and defect triage.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in C++ software development and test automation.
• Strong knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, reusable classes/components, scripts, and test suites.
• Good understanding of functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
• Strong experience working in a Linux environment.
• Good debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as GDB.
• Experience with Git, CMake, and software configuration management.
• Ability to analyze logs and investigate automation/test failures to determine the root cause.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in the following areas will be an added advantage:

• Python or Bash scripting for test automation.
• Experience with C++ testing frameworks.
• Experience designing automation frameworks and reusable automation libraries.
• Automation of embedded or hardware-dependent applications.
• Knowledge of RS-232, RS-485, SPI, UART, and other hardware communication protocols.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, and IPv6.
• Experience with Docker, Conan, and C++11/C++14/C++17.
• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD automation.
• Familiarity with Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and related development tools.
• Knowledge of GCC, grep, awk, sed, systemd, and Linux command-line tools.
• Experience with automated test reporting, log analysis, and failure analysis.
• Exposure to embedded systems, ARM platforms, or microcontrollers.
• Experience with system-level automation.
