Position: Buyer Technical Spares

Location: Pune

Responsible for procurement of technical spares, consumables, and maintenance-related materials required for uninterrupted operations of steel manufacturing plants. The role involves sourcing, vendor management, cost optimization, inventory control, and ensuring timely availability of critical spares for plant maintenance and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation spares for steel plant operations.
• Manage end-to-end procurement cycle including RFQs, techno-commercial evaluation, negotiations, PO issuance, and vendor follow-up.
• Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and service providers.
• Ensure timely availability of critical spares to minimize plant downtime.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Stores teams for procurement planning.
• Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock while avoiding shortages and excess inventory.
• Identify alternate vendors and localization opportunities to achieve cost reduction.
• Track supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost parameters.
• Handle annual rate contracts (ARC), tendering, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, quality standards, and audit requirements.
• Analyze procurement spend and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• 6-12 years of experience in technical procurement within steel, metals, cement, mining, power, or heavy engineering industries.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Good understanding of maintenance practices and plant operations.
• Excellent analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management capabilities.
