Business Development Manager Ekko | Full-time | Chennai | Travel required (India and US) | Reporting to the VP Sales About Ekko Ekko is an AI-powered healthcare product that turns clinical conversations into structured documentation. Our pipeline transcribes audio, generates clinical notes, and extracts structured data using LLMs. We ship a web app and a backend service used by clinicians who depend on getting it right. We're a small, early-stage team that cares a lot about craft, moves fast, and keeps the chai flowing. The person in this role helps build our sales motion, not inherit a fully-built machine. The Role We're hiring Business Development Manager to generate pipeline, run demos, and close deals with clinics, hospitals, and individual practitioners across India and the US. This is an early-stage sales role, which is a polite way of saying you'll be a self-starter: you'll build your own pipeline, learn to sell an AI product to a (healthily) skeptical clinical audience, and help us figure out what works as we grow. You'll sell to busy, cautious buyers who care deeply about accuracy, privacy, and whether a new tool actually fits their day. The best person for this role can earn a doctor's trust quickly, run a sharp discovery call, and close without overpromising. This role involves travel to prospects across India, with periodic trips to the US, so you'll want to enjoy being on the road and, for US visits, hold or be able to obtain the right travel documents. What You'll Do Generate pipeline • Build your own pipeline through outbound: email, calls, LinkedIn, and good old in-person outreach • Identify and qualify clinics, hospitals, and practitioners that are a real fit • Represent Ekko at customer sites, demos, and the occasional event Run the sales cycle • Lead discovery calls that surface real pain before you pitch • Run demos that feel tailored to the buyer's workflow, not a canned script • Handle objections about price, accuracy, and AI without overpromising • Move deals to close and keep the cycle humming Sell an AI product honestly • Set realistic expectations about what the AI does well and where the human stays in control • Answer privacy and compliance questions calmly and factually, and follow up when you don't know • Explain how an AI scribe works in plain language to non-technical clinicians Feed the rest of the company • Hand off closed customers cleanly to implementation • Bring customer and market feedback back to product with real context • Help shape the sales playbook as we learn what works What You Bring • 2+ years in a closing sales role (B2B preferred), with a track record of hitting targets • Strong discovery and objection-handling skills, and the discipline to qualify hard • Comfort with outbound and self-generated pipeline, not just inbound leads • The ability to build trust fast with cautious, senior buyers • Honesty under pressure: you don't promise what the product can't do • Willingness and ability to travel to prospects across India, with periodic US travel • Comfort with startup life: ambiguity, ownership, and building as you go Nice to Have • Healthcare or clinical sales experience • Experience selling AI-powered or technical products • Experience selling to small and medium clinics or solo practitioners • Familiarity with fast SMB sales cycles • Experience selling across multiple markets (India and US) • A war story about the deal you almost lost and how you saved it (we love those) • Foodies welcome; you'll soon know the best lunch spot in every city you visit • Bonus if you can deliver a 60-second pitch with Rajinikanth-level swagger What We Value These are the values we hire for and live by: •
