Business Development Manager - Retail/D2C

Seeking a Business Development Specialist for a D2C brand in Mumbai!

Key Responsibilities

• New business: Identify prospects, reach decision-makers, pitch relevant opportunities and close retail, institutional and bulk orders.

• Schools and partnerships: Build relationships with schools, parent groups, agencies and organisers to secure access, approved activities and sales opportunities.

• Pop-ups and exhibitions: Evaluate venues and audiences, negotiate participation terms and coordinate stock, displays, staffing, direct selling and reconciliation.

• Commercial ownership: Assess margins, event costs and partner fees; negotiate within agreed limits and deliver sales targets profitably.

• Account management: Coordinate fulfilment, resolve issues, collect payments and generate repeat orders, bookings and referrals.

• Tracking and insights: Maintain a clear sales pipeline; report conversions, revenue, costs and collections, and share customer and market feedback.

Job Qualifications

• 2-7 years in field sales, business development or institutional sales, with evidence of independently sourcing and closing business.

• Experience in consumer products, retail distribution, school outreach, exhibitions or activations; apparel or kidswear exposure is a plus.

• Strong prospecting, negotiation and relationship-building skills; able to adapt pitches for buyers, institutions, partners and parents.

• Comfort with sales calculations and Excel or Google Sheets; organised, resourceful and consistent with follow-ups.
