Position - Business Development Manager
Reporting: Country Head
Location: Mumbai/Pune/Bangalore
Position Summary The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving strategic business growth through specification selling, consultant engagement, and project development across India's HVAC and Fire & Life Safety sectors. The role requires identifying opportunities at the concept and design stage, influencing key stakeholders, securing product specifications, and converting projects into profitable business. The incumbent will serve as Leminar's market-facing technical representative, building long-term relationships with consultants, government agencies, and key accounts while strengthening the company's leadership in strategic infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Business Development and Consultant Management
- Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified projects from concept to order realization
- Drive specification sales by securing consultant approvals and product specifications
- Identify, qualify, and convert high-value project opportunities across India
- Establish strategic relationships with MEP consultants, cost consultants, architects, PMC, government authorities, and institutional clients
- Position Leminar as the preferred partner during the project design stage and enhance branding, attend ISHRAE,FSAI and RATA events and exhibitions
- Conduct technical presentations, CPD programs, and solution-based customer engagements
- Drive registrations and business development through GeM, CPWD, EIL, Metro Rail, Defence, Airports, NTPC, and other government organizations
Technical & Commercial Excellence
- Evaluate project specifications, HVAC drawings, BOQs, and tender documets
- Recommend technically compliant and commercially competitive solutions
- Collaborate with Engineering and Estimation teams to deliver optimized propositions
- Provide technical guidance throughout tendering and project execution
Market Development & Intelligence Deliver actionable market intelligen
c e on:Project pipeline, Consultant movements, Competitor strategies, Pricing trends, Emerging technologies, Customer insights, Regional growth opportunities, Business Deliverables, Qualified project pipeline, Consultant approvals and specifications, Strategic account develoment
Qualifications & must have skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- MBA in Marketing or Sales is desirable
- 5–10 years of proven experience in HVAC, Fire & Life Safety, Air Distribution, or MEP project sales
- Demonstrated success in specification selling, consultant management, and strategic business development
- Strong network within the consultant, EPC, PMC, developer, and government ecosystem
Core Competencies
- Technical expertise in HVAC and Fire & Life Safety systems
- Strong understanding of UL, IS, NFPA, SMACNA, DW144, BS, and related international standards
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
- High level of ownership, integrity, and execution excellence
- Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office
Travel Requirements
- Extensive travel across India is essential to support customer engagement, consultant development, project acquisition, and business expansion
