About this role
Role & responsibilities
We are looking for a seasoned Functional Business Analyst with deep domain expertise in US Life/ Health Insurance to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will act as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams translating complex business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical specifications.
Requirements & Documentation
- Elicit, analyse, and document detailed business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process walkthroughs
- Prepare comprehensive Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and Functional Requirement Documents (FRD) aligned with project goals
- Maintain requirement traceability matrices and ensure sign-off from relevant stakeholders at each milestone
- Understand insurance policy lifecycle from issuance, underwriting, and premium processing to claims, surrenders, and payouts
Work closely with Development, QA and operations teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory and product-specific requirements
Technical Business Analysis
- Collaborate with development, QA, and architecture teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Participate in system design discussions, API integration reviews, and data flow mapping
- Validate technical solutions against business requirements and flag gaps or conflicts early
- Support UAT planning and execution define test scenarios, track defects, and obtain business sign-off
Stakeholder & Project Management
- Engage with cross-functional teams including product owners, IT leads, compliance, and external vendors
- Facilitate requirement review meetings, sprint planning sessions, and status updates
- Proactively manage scope changes and communicate impact on timelines and deliverables
Preferred candidate profile
- 68+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with mandatory domain experience in Life Insurance.
- Strong proficiency in writing BRDs and FRDs with attention to detail and clarity
- Proven experience in end-to-end requirement gathering across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Hands-on experience as a Technical BA comfortable engaging with developers, architects, and QA teams on technical topics
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or equivalent
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery methodology is preferred
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
Good to Have
- Experience with insurance platforms such as Majesco, or similar, OIPA, ALIP, AS400
- Exposure to digital transformation or modernization projects in the insurance space
- Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP / PMI-PBA) is a plus
