Business Analyst (Freelance | Part-time to Fulltime)

About Paalam Paalam is a fast-growing Swiss startup building a premium relationship platform for the global Tamil community. We combine technology, psychology and data to help people build meaningful relationships. As we launch our new mobile app and expand into new international markets, we're looking for an experienced, hands-on Business Analyst who can contribute from day one. This is not a traditional BA role. You will work directly with the founder across product, data, QA, project management, strategy and international expansion. The role initially starts as a freelance position of approximately 20 hours per week. For the right candidate, we're happy to transition to a full-time role immediately or, at the latest, from November.

What you'll do

• Analyse product, business and marketing data and turn insights into clear recommendations
• Define and monitor KPIs across conversion, engagement, retention and growth
• Translate product ideas into requirements, user stories, workflows and acceptance criteria
• Perform hands-on QA/UAT and coordinate closely with our development team
• Coordinate product initiatives from requirements through release
• Research and evaluate new countries for expansion
• Prepare market-entry strategies covering competition, pricing, users, product and growth
• Actively support and coordinate new country launches from planning to execution
• Challenge assumptions and support founder decisions with data and structured reasoning
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation across the business

• How can we build a better product and a better business?

Who we're looking for

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Business Analysis, Product or a comparable technology role
• Strong experience working with software development teams
• Practical experience with requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Experience with QA/UAT and software releases
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets and practical SQL skills
• Excellent English and Tamil
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on, proactive and comfortable taking ownership
• Comfortable challenging ideas instead of simply executing tasks
• Experience with BI tools, marketing, startups or international expansion is a plus We value
