Blast Furnace Foreman

Role & responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day blast furnace mechanical maintenance activities.
• Lead and manage a team of fitters, welders, helpers and technicians.
• Execute preventive, breakdown and shutdown maintenance as per the work schedule.
• Handle maintenance of rotary and mechanical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems and related equipment.
• Plan and allocate manpower according to job priorities and site requirements.
• Monitor work progress and ensure timely completion of assigned jobs.
• Coordinate with client/site engineers for daily work planning and execution.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements and work permit systems.
• Identify equipment abnormalities and coordinate corrective actions.
• Maintain daily manpower, work-progress and equipment/job status reports.
• Ensure proper availability and utilisation of tools and tackles.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians during critical maintenance and breakdown activities.
• Support shutdown planning, manpower deployment and execution.

Preferred candidate profile

• Hands-on experience in blast furnace maintenance.
• Strong experience in rotary/mechanical equipment maintenance.
• Prior experience in steel plant maintenance will be preferred.
• Should have good team-handling and manpower coordination skills.
• Ability to supervise maintenance activities at the site independently.
• Good knowledge of industrial safety practices and maintenance procedures.
