Position: BIW Fixture Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a BIW Fixture Design Engineer with 1+ year of experience in the automotive industry. The candidate should have hands-on experience in concept designing and development of BIW fixtures, with strong knowledge of 2D and 3D design. The role involves developing fixture concepts, preparing detailed designs, and coordinating with manufacturing and production teams to ensure fixture feasibility and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop concept designs for BIW fixtures based on customer and production requirements.
• Create and modify 2D and 3D fixture designs for BIW applications.
• Design fixtures, checking fixtures, welding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and related tooling.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings.
• Understand BIW components, sheet metal parts, joining processes, welding, and assembly requirements.
• Perform fixture feasibility checks and ensure proper accessibility, clamping, locating, and loading/unloading.
• Select appropriate locators, clamps, pins, supports, and standard components for fixture design.
• Ensure fixture designs meet GD&T, dimensional, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Coordinate with production, manufacturing, quality, and tool-room teams for design validation and implementation.
• Modify designs based on manufacturing feedback and trial observations.
• Support DFM/DFA, design reviews, and fixture improvement activities.
• Maintain design documentation, drawings, BOMs, and revision records.

Required Skills:

• Minimum 1+ year of experience in BIW Fixture Design.
• Mandatory experience in concept designing of fixtures.
• Good hands-on experience in 2D and 3D CAD design.
• Strong understanding of BIW fixture concepts and fixture design methodology.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, locating and clamping principles.
• Understanding of sheet metal components, welding, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Knowledge of fixture standard components and their applications.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

CAD Software:

• Hands-on experience in any relevant 2D/3D CAD software such as CATIA V5, UG NX, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
• Ability to develop 3D concepts and convert them into detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
