BIW Door Design Engineer | Siemens NX | Automotive

Job Description

We are hiring experienced BIW Door Design Engineers with strong expertise in Steel BIW Components, Automotive Closures, Surfacing, and Siemens NX for an automotive product development program.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Door Design, Body-in-White (BIW) components, CAD development using NX, and Daimler design methodologies. Candidates with exposure to complete door structures, closure systems, sheet metal parts, and vehicle integration activities are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and development of BIW Door Components and Closure Systems using Siemens NX.
• Development of CAD models and drawings following automotive OEM standards and Daimler methodology.
• Create and validate Master Sections.
• Perform benchmarking studies and competitive analysis.
• Conduct styling feasibility validation and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Execute concept development, packaging studies, and interference checks.
• Design and develop door-related components including:
• Inner and Outer Panels
• Reinforcements
• Hinges
• Glass Systems
• Handles
• Mounting Brackets
• Creation and optimization of joining elements for assembly.
• Work on weight reduction and cost optimization initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, CAE, Vehicle Integration, Corrosion Protection, and Quality teams.
• Implement engineering changes and support change management activities.
• Ensure timely delivery of project milestones while maintaining quality standards.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong experience in BIW Door Design.
• Hands-on expertise in Steel Parts Design and Automotive Sheet Metal Components.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX.
• Experience in Automotive Surfacing.
• Knowledge of Door Systems and Closure Components.
• Experience in:
• Packaging Studies
• Interference Analysis
• Master Sections
• Benchmarking
• Vehicle Integration
• Understanding of Door Mechanisms, Glass Systems, Hinges, and Handles.
• Change Management experience.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Daimler / Mercedes-Benz design methodology.
• Teamcenter or other PDM systems.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, DFM/DFA.
• Experience working with Automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
