BIM Manager - Commercial Projects

Role & responsibilities

The role is responsible to lead the implementation and management of BIM processes across projects with guidance from the Design Head. Additionally, the role is responsible for driving the adoption of BIM methodologies, ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational objectives, industry standards, and project requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

• BIM implementation and Management - Define objectives for BIM implementation across projects in line with company objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure alignment with project goals. Finalize BIM workflows, processes, and platform selection, considering project needs and industry best practices. Establish standardized naming conventions for BIM data to promote consistency and clarity. Prepare BIM execution plan for all projects in consultation with Design Head. Participate in kick-off meetings along with the BIM consultant and orient all stakeholders on BIM execution plan. Run the clash detection module, compile clashes and co-ordinate with relevant stakeholders for clash resolution. Conduct weekly clash coordination meetings until models are coordinated. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of BIM models through regular quality checks. Extract and review model trackers, approval trackers, and GFC issue trackers to ensure timelines are met and quality standards are maintained. Facilitate communication and information sharing among planners, designers, engineers, surveyors and other stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. Provide clarification on BIM related queries promptly. Generate regular BIM progress reports during design & construction stages and circulate to all stakeholders.

• Consultant Management - Assist the Design Head in establishing criteria for selecting BIM consultants, based on expertise and project requirements. Float RFP along with the design brief document for inviting quotes from consultants. Evaluate consultant proposals, conduct negotiations, and obtain sign-off and approval from relevant stakeholders for consultant appointments. Monitor and assess consultant performance, take appropriate actions for underperforming consultants with approval from the Design Head.

• Innovation and Efficiency Enhancement - Keep abreast of the latest advancements in BIM technology and software. Evaluate and recommend new BIM tools and technologies to enhance project efficiency and quality. Work on evolving the BIM model to cover more aspects such as costing and planning. Lead the integration of innovative solutions and new technologies into the BIM process. Develop and enforce modelling standards across projects to enhance construction efficiency, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence. Regularly assess BIM models for accuracy and completeness, resolving any discrepancies to ensure high quality and reliability for project needs.

• Risk Management - Identify potential risks associated with BIM implementation and management processes. Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks in collaboration with Design Head. Implement the mitigation plan and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
