Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Lead Electrical BIM Engineer to lead electrical BIM engineering and coordination across design and execution phases. The ideal candidate should have advanced expertise in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, electrical design coordination, and BIM quality management.

The role involves taking technical ownership of the electrical BIM scope, leading a team of BIM engineers/modelers, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with Dutch electrical standards, and delivering accurate, coordinated, and construction-ready BIM models and drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical BIM modelling, design coordination, and technical delivery across project design and execution phases.
• Develop, review, and maintain electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, and MEP teams.
• Perform clash detection using Navisworks Manage, assign issues, coordinate resolutions, and ensure closure.
• Prepare and review electrical shop drawings, working drawings, cable tray routing, sleeves/penetrations, and prefabrication details.
• Establish and enforce electrical BIM standards, modelling workflows, and BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 principles and project-specific BIM protocols.
• Manage IFC model exchanges and BCF-based issue coordination.
• Review and maintain Revit families, parameters, naming conventions, and electrical content libraries.
• Manage BIM data, version control, approvals, and document releases through Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms.
• Conduct BIM QA/QC checks, model audits, and information quality reviews before deliverable release.
• Lead BIM coordination meetings, communicate technical decisions, and follow up on action items.
• Guide, mentor, allocate work to, and review the deliverables of BIM engineers and modelers.
• Support construction teams with technical queries, constructability reviews, prefabrication coordination, and as-built updates.
• Monitor project progress, technical risks, coordination issues, and deliverable quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in electrical engineering design and BIM delivery for utility or commercial building projects.
• Advanced hands-on expertise in Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD.
• Strong experience in electrical design coordination and technical validation of engineering solutions.
• Proven experience leading BIM engineers/modelers and reviewing technical deliverables.
• Excellent knowledge of NEN 1010 and applicable Dutch and European electrical standards.
• Strong understanding of BIM methodologies, BIM protocols, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and ISO 19650 principles.
• Hands-on experience with clash detection, issue tracking, and multidisciplinary model coordination.
• Experience with IFC and BCF for openBIM model exchange and issue management.
• Experience with CDE platforms for model management, version control, approvals, and information delivery.
• Expertise in BIM quality assurance, Revit family management, and model validation.
• Experience preparing and reviewing shop drawings, electrical routing layouts, and prefabrication packages.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with NEN 3140 and relevant European electrical standards.
• Experience with Planfred or similar CDE platforms.
• Knowledge of prefabrication, modularisation, and industrialised installation methods.
• Experience supporting site execution, installation planning, and as-built documentation.
