Position Summary: The Billing Data Entry Specialist supports timely and accurate claim processing by entering, reviewing, and correcting patient, insurance, encounter, and billing-related information.

Essential Responsibilities

• Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Review source documentation for completeness.
• Validate required claim information before submission.
• Correct assigned data-related claim rejections.
• Maintain complete and accurate account notes.
• Follow privacy, security, and minimum-necessary-access requirements.
• Meet established productivity, quality, and turnaround standards.
• Escalate missing, inconsistent, or complex information.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• At least one year of healthcare billing or medical data-entry experience
• Familiarity with U.S. health insurance information
• Strong keyboarding, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Ability to follow documented procedures consistently
• Clear written English
• Experience with billing or practice-management software
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Emergency medicine or hospital medicine experience
• Professional-claim or CMS-1500 familiarity
• Experience correcting claim edits or rejections
• Knowledge of payer portals and eligibility tools
