Remote Contract Role for a BigData QA Test Engineer, intended for professionals based in

Chennai with approximately

6–10 years of experience and the ability to join quickly.

Role Description The engineer will design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for ETL pipelines and Big Data solutions, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and performance across complex data workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing manual testing of data processes, validating data transformations and integrations, collaborating with development and data engineering teams to understand requirements and resolve defects, and documenting test results and quality metrics. The role also involves contributing to test strategy, identifying gaps in coverage, supporting root cause analysis for production issues, and recommending improvements to QA processes and data quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong foundation in Quality Assurance, with experience defining QA processes and ensuring adherence to testing standards.
• Hands-on experience in

Manual Testing, including functional, integration, regression, and data validation testing for ETL and Big Data systems.

• Proficiency in designing and maintaining detailed Test Cases and test scenarios aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Background in Software Testing across data-heavy applications, preferably including

ETL tools, data warehouses, and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

• Understanding of

Software Development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and collaboration with developers and data engineers.

• Experience with

SQL and querying large datasets f or validation, along with familiarity with data modeling and data quality concepts.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setup.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in ETL /

Big Data QA or data-centric testing roles , particularly within enterprise or large-scale environments.
