• Served as an L3 Backup Engineer, managing and supporting enterprise backup operations across hundreds of SAP production and non-production servers within the Nike environment, primarily hosted on Microsoft Azure with additional workloads on AWS.
• Administered, monitored, and optimized Commvault backup infrastructure, ensuring successful backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery operations while maintaining high availability and data integrity.
• Performed advanced L3 troubleshooting for backup failures, media issues, storage bottlenecks, and infrastructure-related incidents, providing root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions.
• Developed and implemented automation using scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Shell) to resolve recurring backup failures, automate health checks, streamline reporting, and significantly reduce operational tickets and manual intervention.
• Conducted capacity planning for backup infrastructure, including storage utilization forecasting, retention optimization, growth analysis, and resource allocation to ensure scalability while controlling operational costs.
• Collaborated with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, including backup encryption, immutable storage, retention policies, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Managed backup storage across multiple financial and storage tiers, balancing performance, cost optimization, and compliance requirements.
• Supported enterprise backup modernization initiatives, including migration of traditional backup workloads to cloud-native SaaS backup solutions and implementation of infrastructure improvements.
• Worked closely with SAP, Cloud, Storage, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure backup consistency, application-aware recovery, and adherence to enterprise service level agreements (SLAs).
• Created operational documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), recovery runbooks, and knowledge base articles to improve operational efficiency and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR).
