Backup and Recovery Operations Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Backup Manager to lead our Enterprise Backup & Recovery function. This role will be responsible for managing mission-critical backup infrastructure, ensuring recovery readiness, driving disaster recovery initiatives, and leading a team of Backup Administrators supporting enterprise-scale environments.

The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication, working knowledge of Rubrik, strong leadership skills, and a passion for building resilient, cyber-secure, and highly available backup platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Backup Operations

• Own and manage enterprise backup and recovery services across on premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.
• Ensure successful backup execution, monitoring, reporting, and service availability.
• Establish and maintain backup policies, retention standards, and recovery procedures.
• Lead backup restoration activities and periodic recovery validations.
• Drive compliance with Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Manage backup infrastructure lifecycle, capacity planning, performance, and optimization.

Veeam Platform Leadership

• Provide architectural and operational leadership for Veeam Backup & Replication environments.
• Manage backup repositories, proxies, replication jobs, backup copy jobs, SureBackup, and cloud integrations.
• Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues.
• Implement and enhance cyber resilience capabilities including immutable backups and secure recovery practices.

Rubrik Administration

• Manage Rubrik backup policies, SLA domains, reporting, and recovery operations.
• Support workload onboarding and data protection governance.
• Optimize backup performance and operational reporting.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Lead Disaster Recovery testing, recovery exercises, and validation activities.
• Develop and maintain recovery runbooks and technical documentation.
• Partner with infrastructure, application, database, and cloud teams to ensure recovery readiness.

Service Management & Governance

• Contribute to Incident, Problem, Change, and Capacity Management processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis for backup failures and recovery incidents.
• Establish operational KPIs, reporting standards, and service governance.
• Ensure audit readiness and compliance with enterprise and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Backup Administrators.
• Define operational objectives, performance goals, and development plans.
• Drive best practices, standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder communications, vendor relationships, and executive reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in Backup & Recovery Operations.
• Minimum 5+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise backup environments.
• Proven experience in disaster recovery, backup governance, and operational excellence.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
