Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Backup Administrator to manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and support enterprise backup environments. The

candidate will be responsible for ensuring successful backup and recovery operations, maintaining backup infrastructure health,

handling incidents and service requests, and supporting disaster recovery activities.

Key Responsibilities

Backup Operations

• Monitor daily backup and restore jobs and ensure successful completion.

• Investigate and resolve backup failures within defined SLA timelines.

• Perform file system, database, VM, and application backup restorations as per business requirements.

• Validate backup success rates and generate operational reports.

• Perform backup policy creation, modification, and scheduling.

NetBackup Administration

• Manage and administer Veritas NetBackup environments.

• Configure and maintain:

• Backup Policies

• Storage Units

• Disk Pools

• Media Servers

• Clients

• SLPs (Storage Lifecycle Policies)

• Monitor backup infrastructure health and capacity utilization.

• Troubleshoot backup, restore, deduplication, and replication issues.

Storage & Deduplication Management

• Monitor MSDP/MSDP-C storage utilization and performance.

• Perform image cleanup, disk pool monitoring, and storage capacity management.

• Monitor AIR (Auto Image Replication) and optimize replication performance.

• Troubleshoot deduplication and storage-related issues.

VMware & Cloud Backup Administration

• Configure and manage VMware backups.

• Support snapshot-based backup operations.

• Monitor cloud backup jobs and storage consumption.

• Support cloud-integrated backup solutions and retention policies.

Incident & Service Request Management

• Handle incidents, service requests, and change requests through ITSM tools (ServiceNow).

• Participate in major troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Provide timely updates to stakeholders and customers.

Disaster Recovery Support

• Support DR drills and recovery testing activities.

• Perform backup validation and recovery verification.

• Ensure backup compliance and retention requirements are met.

Documentation & Reporting

• Create and maintain SOPs, operational documents, and KB articles.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly backup health reports.

• Maintain backup environment inventory and configuration documentation.
