Backend Platform Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Platform Engineer to build and maintain scalable backend services and data infrastructure for a consumer technology platform. You will focus on API performance, event processing, data reliability, and secure multi-tenant systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build and optimize low-latency services for high-volume requests.
• Develop event-driven pipelines with reliable processing, deduplication, and retry handling.
• Maintain data flows across relational databases, caching systems, and analytics stores.
• Implement tenant isolation, access controls, and data validation.
• Build background processing and enrichment workflows.
• Monitor service performance, investigate production issues, and improve system reliability.
• Write meaningful tests, review code, and document technical decisions.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience building and maintaining production backend services and REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of SQL, database design, and query optimization.
• Experience with at least one of: message queues, event streaming, caching systems, or analytical databases.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
• Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Git and collaborative code reviews.

Good to Have

• Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to workflow orchestration, observability, or performance testing.
• Experience building multi-tenant platforms.
