The Role As a Backend Engineer at Ripik.AI, you'll build the systems that power our industrial AI products — high-throughput services that ingest real-time data from factory floors, run computer vision and process-optimisation models at scale, and deliver decisions back to plant operations in seconds. You'll work on Java-based microservices in Spring Boot, design multi-threaded pipelines to handle real-time streams, and partner with ML engineers, DevOps, and frontend teams to ship features end-to-end. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to write production Java code that runs 24/7 in some of the largest plants in the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services in Java and Spring Boot — clean, testable, and production-ready code that runs at scale.
• Own multi-threaded and concurrent workflows for real-time data ingestion, event processing, and low-latency inference pipelines.
• Design and ship REST APIs used by our frontend, mobile, and integration partners — with a strong sense for versioning, error handling, and documentation.
• Model and query data in relational (Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL stores — write efficient queries, design schemas that don't come back to haunt you.
• Integrate with ML services and streaming systems (Kafka / message queues) to serve model outputs to plant operators in real time.
• Debug production issues on live customer deployments — trace the problem, ship the fix, prevent the recurrence.
• Contribute to system design conversations — you'll have a voice in architecture decisions, not just tickets to close.
• Write tests and reviews — unit, integration, and thoughtful code reviews for teammates. We take engineering hygiene seriously.

What You Bring

• 2–5 years of hands-on backend engineering experience.
• Technology Stack : Java, Spring Boot, Multithreading, Rest APIs, AWS
• Strong Java fundamentals (Java 11+) — collections, generics, streams, memory model.
• Solid experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
• Real understanding of multi-threading and concurrency — thread pools, executors, race conditions, locks.
• Comfortable with SQL and relational databases (Postgres or MySQL preferred).
• REST API design fundamentals; Git and modern developer workflows.
• Strong data structures and algorithms base — you can reason about time and space.
• Ownership mindset and a willingness to ship, learn, and iterate.

Nice to Have

• Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other streaming/messaging systems for high-throughput event pipelines.
• Docker, Kubernetes, or hands-on cloud experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Microservices architecture — you've built or maintained services in a distributed system.
• Redis, caching strategies, or performance optimisation experience.
• Exposure to ML model serving, or working alongside data science and computer vision teams.
• Open-source contributions or a public body of work we can look at.
