Backend Engineer

What you'll be working on

• You'll primarily work on 1P backend APIs and services, both public-facing and internal.
• Our backend is based on a microservices architecture and built using Python , NoSQL databases , and many other open-source tools.
• Over time, we expect you to grow, train, and scale your own backend team.
• You'll create experiences that shape an iconic product. We believe in hiring smart people who pride themselves on strong values, work ethic, and taking ownership.

You'd fit in if:

• You've built SaaS or consumer products before. You understand your users, enjoy bringing great products to life, and treat API development as a craft.
• You've built, scaled, and maintained large-scale systems on AWS. This is a strong plus but not absolutely required.
• You are a fast learner. Our tech stack evolves continuously, so you'll need to learn quickly and build solutions efficiently.
• You can work in teams. You're self-driven, collaborate effectively, and don't require constant supervision.
• You enjoy building from scratch. As an early hire, you'll help create products and systems from the ground up.
• You can think about business constraints. We value engineers who understand users, consider business impact, and make thoughtful technical decisions.

Our Recruitment Process

1. Introduction: Get on an introductory call with us to discuss your experience, interests, our vision, and how you can contribute.
2. HackerRank Exercise: We'll send you a domain-specific task that you'll complete and return within 72 hours.
3. Pair Programming: If your submission stands out, you'll pair-program with one of our engineers on a real-world problem (no whiteboarding).
