Backend Engineer

Job Description Looking for a candidate who is currently using Java and Spring Boot as their primary production stack. We need someone who can set backend conventions for the team while owning payment and external API integrations end-to-end. Responsibilities: - Payment Integration: Managing the full PaymentIntent lifecycle, including webhooks, refunds, disputes, reconciliation, and async failure handling. - External API Boundaries: Ensuring webhook security, idempotency, retries, and production debugging. - API Contract Design: Establishing integration boundaries with the rest of the backend team. Requirements: - 5+ years of Java / Spring Boot experience in production. - Proficiency in setting conventions for Maven, Flyway, and Spring Security. - Deep experience with Stripe or equivalent payment gateways. - Strong background in webhook management and failure-handling logic. - Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS at the application level (managing secrets, endpoints, and config changes). - We need someone who can step in as the strongest Java integration engineer on the team from day one.
