Backend Engineer – Python/FastAPI

Location: Delhi with a remote option Employment type: Full-time Experience: 0–3 years Joining: Immediate to [30/45] days

About the role We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build the systems powering AutoPresent’s AI presentation platform. You will work on APIs, file-processing pipelines, databases, background jobs, AI-model integrations and production infrastructure. The role is suited to someone who enjoys building reliable systems and taking ownership from development through deployment. Exceptional fresh graduates with strong backend projects may also apply.

What you will do

• Design, build and maintain backend APIs and services.
• Develop workflows for processing PowerPoint files, PDFs, documents and images.
• Build integrations with generative-AI and third-party APIs.
• Create reliable asynchronous and background-processing pipelines.
• Work on authentication, subscriptions, usage tracking and payment-related systems.
• Design database schemas and improve query performance.
• Implement logging, monitoring, error handling and retry mechanisms.
• Improve the scalability, reliability and security of production services.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Diagnose and resolve production bugs and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with frontend, AI and product teams. -

What we are looking for

• Strong knowledge of Python.
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask or a comparable backend framework.
• Understanding of REST APIs and client-server architecture.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git, debugging and automated testing.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization and secure API development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to independently take a feature from requirements to deployment.

Good to have

• Experience with Redis, Celery, message queues or asynchronous Python.
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience with object storage, file conversion or document-processing systems.
• Familiarity with AI-model APIs and structured model outputs.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability and production monitoring.
