Backend Engineer (Python / Django) - Pune

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and Django to develop, maintain, and improve scalable backend systems. The role involves API development, database optimisation, system architecture, third-party integrations, and production support.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Build secure and scalable REST APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Design modular application architecture and refactor existing codebases with minimal production disruption.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including data modelling, query optimisation, indexing, and safe database migrations.
• Develop and manage background jobs using Celery and Redis, including retries, concurrency, and error handling.
• Integrate third-party systems through REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, callbacks, and database connections.
• Implement automated testing, code reviews, and CI checks to maintain code quality.
• Manage deployments, monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and identify root causes.
• Prepare implementation plans, track development progress, and ensure reliable delivery of technical solutions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly, reviewing and validating generated code before deployment.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Python, including at least 2 years working with Django in production.
• Strong knowledge of Django ORM, Django REST Framework, JWT authentication, permissions, and API security.
• Good understanding of system design, modular architecture, data consistency, concurrency, and error handling.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Celery, Redis, Docker, Docker Compose, and Linux.
• Experience writing automated tests using pytest.
• Strong experience in third-party integrations, database migrations, and production troubleshooting.
• Ability to independently analyse problems, prepare implementation plans, and take ownership of deliverables.
