About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend Developer) to join our Operations & Technology – Fraud Products team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing and enhancing Mastercard’s Decision Management Platform, which is the backbone of our fraud prevention and cardholder identity validation solutions. The platform processes billions of transactions monthly, utilizing a high-performance, multi-tiered, message-oriented architecture designed for reliability and speed. This position offers an exciting opportunity to build industry-leading fraud prevention solutions, work with innovative technologies, and solve complex, high-scale business problems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, support production environments, and drive continuous improvement in development practices.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Java development, with experience designing and implementing scalable enterprise applications. A solid understanding of database management, web services, and modern development frameworks is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, proactive problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively within a distributed Agile team. Prior experience in fraud detection, security, or financial services is a plus. Relevant educational qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, along with professional certifications in Java development or cloud technologies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality software solutions through hands-on development, adhering to Mastercard’s standards and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with technical leads and cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient systems.
- Provide expert-level support for production environments by resolving incidents, troubleshooting issues, and addressing problem tickets promptly.
- Plan, design, and develop technical solutions, including detailed documentation, test strategies, and performance benchmarks.
- Lead day-to-day system development and maintenance activities to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Drive innovation by exploring new technologies, optimizing costs, and accelerating time-to-market for new features and solutions.
- Own the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and technical design to deployment and rollback planning.
- Participate in Proof of Concepts (PoCs), evaluate new tools and frameworks, and support vendor selections.
- Conduct technical training sessions, brown bag discussions, and mentorship programs to foster team growth and knowledge sharing.
- Continuously improve development standards, processes, and automation to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across unit, system, integration, and performance testing phases.
- Perform code reviews, security assessments, and walkthroughs to uphold quality and security standards.
