DocPulse Technologies is a Bengaluru-based healthcare SaaS company building a Hospital Management System (HMS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform for small and mid-sized hospitals, clinics, and medical centers across India, the Middle East, and Africa. Since 2012, DocPulse has powered 400+ implementations, supports 5,000+ doctors, and handles over 10 million appointments every year with a 99.9% uptime SLA. The platform is HIPAA certified, ISO 27001 certified, GDPR certified, and NABH aligned.

We are modernising our core platform while continuing to support hospitals that rely on DocPulse every day — an opportunity to work on large-scale database migration, new module development, and backend systems that directly power hospital operations.

Role Overview

As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with the Tech Lead to execute database migration activities, upgrade existing Java libraries, and contribute to backend feature development as the platform expands to new markets. You will operate within a pre-set migration framework, take ownership of specific tasks end to end, and collaborate with a lean engineering team of 10 engineers and 2 QA engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute database migration tasks — writing queries within the established framework, validating data integrity, and ensuring both source and target databases remain in sync during migration.
• Upgrade and maintain existing Java libraries and backend services.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and own RESTful APIs end to end — from data modelling and business logic to integration and deployment.
• Develop new features and modules aligned with NABH standards and customer requirements.
• Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Articulate technical work, thought process, and approach clearly — both verbally and in writing — to collaborate effectively with the team and leverage AI development tools (Claude, Gemini).
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code; contribute to code reviews.
  
  

Must-Have Requirements

• 1–2 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Java (Java 17+) — sufficient to write migration queries and upgrade existing library code within a defined framework.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB — ability to read, write, validate, and work across two concurrent database structures during migration.
• Clear and articulate communication — ability to explain technical work and thought process precisely, both verbally and in written form; critical for AI-assisted development workflows.
  
  

Good to Have

• Spring Boot — hands-on backend development using Spring Boot.
• RESTful API development experience end to end.
• Cloud exposure — GCP or AWS hands-on experience.
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as NABH, ABDM, FHIR, or HIPAA (DocPulse provides certification opportunities).
• Background in B2B SaaS or healthtech companies (e.g. HealthPlix, Practo, Eka Care, MocDoc).
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude, Gemini, or Cursor.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or containerised deployments.
  
  

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (B.E./B.Tech/MCA or equivalent) preferred. Candidates with strong backend development experience from other engineering disciplines will also be considered.
