Backend Developer -Python

Job Title: Backend Developer (Python / FastAPI) Location: Chennai (Onsite) Experience: 5+ Years Employment Type: Full-Time Notice Period: Immediate Joiners or Up to 15 Days

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer (Python / FastAPI) to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, API development, database design, and cloud-native architectures. Experience in building enterprise-grade applications within fintech or other regulated industries is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
• Build secure, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and microservices.
• Design, optimize, and maintain databases using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices using JWT, OAuth2, encryption, and industry security standards.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, QA, and Product teams in Agile development cycles.
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and support production environments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture and technical design discussions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and the FastAPI framework.
• Hands-on experience in developing REST APIs, WebSockets, or gRPC services.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience with SQLAlchemy, ORM frameworks, and asynchronous programming (asyncio).
• Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Familiarity with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication mechanisms, and API security.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in FinTech, Banking, or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of API gateways, service mesh, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar platforms.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
