Backend Developer (Python)

We are looking for an experienced Back-End Developer (Python) to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing and developing scalable backend applications, REST APIs, and microservices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build reliable, maintainable, and high-performance solutions while contributing to architecture, automation, cloud deployments, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Design and implement solutions using microservices architecture and best engineering practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and reusable code.
• Perform REST API testing and automation using tools such as Insomnia and JMeter.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues, with a strong focus on identifying root causes.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, clients, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and DevOps initiatives.
• Work with cloud platforms and containerised environments to deploy and operate applications.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

The core requirements for the job include the following:

Python and Backend Development:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in backend development using Python.
• Strong understanding of developing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance backend applications.
• Experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask.
• Experience with pytest and automated testing practices.
• Strong experience with REST API development, testing, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Insomnia and JMeter for API testing and performance testing.

Microservices and Architecture:

• In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying distributed, service-oriented applications.
• Strong understanding of scalable and maintainable software architecture principles.

DevOps and Cloud:

• Good understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with deployment automation and operational processes.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization, deployment, and orchestration.
