Job Description:

Neural Hive Technology Limited is looking for a talented Backend Engineer to design and build the server-side systems that power our healthcare technology platform.

You will work on scalable APIs, data models and background processing systems, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product and QA to ship reliable features end to end. This role suits an engineer who takes ownership of their services, writes maintainable code and cares about getting the details right.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Model and query relational data in PostgreSQL, writing efficient schemas, migrations and queries.
• Build background job and queue-based processing for asynchronous and long-running tasks.
• Implement authentication, authorisation and role-based access control across services.
• Integrate with cloud services for storage, messaging, identity and deployment.
• Write unit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
• Monitor, debug and optimise services for performance, reliability and cost.
• Document APIs and technical decisions so the team can build on your work.
• Collaborate with frontend, product and QA teams through the full development lifecycle.

Required Skills:

• Node.js / TypeScript: 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
• API Development: Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Databases: Solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design, indexing and query optimisation.
• ORM: Practical experience with a modern ORM such as Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize or Knex.
• Cloud: Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda and IAM.
• Testing: Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Git: Proficiency with version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Problem solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Good to Have:

• Experience with message queues or job processing systems such as BullMQ, RabbitMQ, Redis Queue or Celery.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerised deployment.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment.
• Understanding of caching strategies using Redis or similar.
• Experience with API documentation standards such as OpenAPI or Swagger.
• Awareness of secure coding practices and data protection requirements.
• Experience working in a healthcare, fintech or other data-sensitive environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
