Role Description This is a remote Back End Developer contract role focused on building and maintaining core services for Path-iQ’s digital pathology platform. The developer designs, implements, and optimizes back-end APIs, microservices, and data processing pipelines to support AI-assisted workflows and cloud-based collaboration. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, scalable code, integrating with front-end applications and third-party services, and ensuring reliability, security, and performance of server-side components. The role involves collaborating with product, AI, and engineering teams to refine requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver iterative improvements in a distributed environment. The contractor is expected to participate in code reviews, maintain documentation, and follow best practices for testing, deployment, and observability.

Qualifications

• Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including API design, database integration, and microservices.
• Solid Software Development experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Proficiency in Programming using modern languages commonly applied to back-end systems (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, or similar).
• Ability to collaborate with Front-End Development teams and understand client–server integration and RESTful interfaces.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security, performance optimization, and scalable architectures for data-intensive applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; experience in healthcare or AI-driven products is a plus.
