About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer with strong expertise in Node.js and modern backend technologies to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side applications.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL, caching and search technologies such as Redis and Elasticsearch, and cloud platforms such as AWS. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, authentication, and security best practices is essential.

The candidate will collaborate closely with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to build reliable backend services that support business growth and deliver an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and asynchronous programming.
• Build reliable, reusable, and maintainable server-side applications.
• Contribute to backend architecture and technical decisions.

2. API Development and Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain secure RESTful APIs.
• Integrate third-party services, APIs, and internal systems.
• Ensure API reliability, performance, and scalability.

3. Database Management

• Work with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch as required.
• Design schemas, indexes, and queries to optimize database performance.
• Implement effective caching and data retrieval strategies.

4. Security and Authentication

• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using JWT, OAuth, and SSO where applicable.
• Follow secure coding practices and protect sensitive data.
• Identify and address potential application security vulnerabilities.

5. Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting

• Monitor and optimize backend performance, response times, and resource utilization.
• Implement robust error handling, logging, and debugging practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system stability.

6. Cloud Deployment and DevOps Collaboration

• Deploy and manage backend applications on AWS.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Contribute to system availability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.

7. Code Quality and Collaboration

• Use Git for version control, branching, and collaborative development.
• Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimations, and delivery reviews.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 4-7 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and asynchronous programming.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB and PostgreSQL, with exposure to Redis and Elasticsearch.
• Understanding of backend architecture, data modelling, indexing, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of authentication and security protocols, including JWT, OAuth, and SSO.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based application deployment.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing scalable, distributed backend systems.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Experience monitoring production applications and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Experience working in a B2C technology, marketplace, or consumer-facing application environment.
