A hands-on Azure monitoring engineer who can assess existing observability maturity, implement standardized monitoring frameworks, optimize alert quality, and introduce practical automation and intelligent monitoring capabilities.

Job Summary

We are looking for an Azure Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and enterprise monitoring solutions. The candidate will be responsible for establishing standardized monitoring and alerting frameworks, improving observability across Azure services, reducing alert noise, and implementing intelligent monitoring and automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain monitoring and observability solutions across Azure infrastructure and platform services.
• Configure Azure Monitor metrics, logs, diagnostic settings, Log Analytics workspaces, and data collection rules.
• Develop and maintain KQL queries for log analysis, troubleshooting, operational reporting, and proactive issue detection.
• Create and manage Azure Monitor workbooks, dashboards, alert rules, action groups, and notification workflows.
• Establish standardized monitoring, alerting, log retention, and notification policies across Azure subscriptions and environments.
• Assess existing monitoring configurations to identify coverage gaps, unnecessary alerts, duplicate notifications, and opportunities to improve signal quality.
• Define actionable thresholds and dynamic alerts to improve incident detection and reduce false positives.
• Integrate monitoring and alerting with IT service management, incident management, and automation workflows where applicable.
• Implement monitoring for Azure infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, databases, AKS, and application services.
• Develop operational dashboards and reporting to improve service availability, performance visibility, and incident response.
• Evaluate and implement applicable Azure Monitor AIOps capabilities, including intelligent alerting, anomaly detection, and automated remediation use cases where supported.
• Document monitoring standards, operational procedures, alert ownership, and troubleshooting runbooks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Azure engineering, cloud operations, monitoring, or observability.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Proficiency in Kusto Query Language (KQL) for log analysis and troubleshooting.
• Experience configuring metrics, diagnostic settings, data collection rules, alerts, action groups, and workbooks.
• Understanding of monitoring requirements for Azure compute, networking, storage, databases, and container platforms.
• Experience designing alerting standards, notification strategies, retention policies, and monitoring baselines.
• Ability to analyze monitoring gaps, tune alert thresholds, and reduce alert fatigue.
• Experience with automation using Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Azure Monitor AIOps capabilities, including anomaly detection, intelligent alerting, and alert correlation where available.
• Experience with Application Insights, distributed tracing, and application performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, and Container Insights.
• Experience integrating monitoring with ITSM platforms and incident response processes.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are an advantage.
