AWS Cloud Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned AWS Developer with 5+ years of experience to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex, cloud-native applications on AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in AWS cloud development, serverless architectures, microservices, distributed systems, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), security, and cloud cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud-native applications on AWS using AWS Well-Architected Framework best practices.

• Develop high-performance backend services, APIs, and integrations with AWS services.

• Lead migration and modernization of legacy on-premise applications into cloud-native microservices.

• Design and implement event-driven and serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and EventBridge.

• Implement security and compliance best practices using IAM, VPC security groups, encryption, and related AWS security controls.

• Monitor and optimize AWS cloud spend through right-sizing, reserved instances, and serverless architectures.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.

• Design solutions that address distributed transactions, data consistency, and eventual consistency in microservices environments.

• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to explain architectural decisions and technical trade-offs.

• Work within Agile delivery methodologies and demonstrate end-to-end ownership of applications and services.

Technical Requirements

• Core AWS Services: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, AWS Glue, S3, EFS, RDS, DynamoDB, and Aurora.

• Serverless & Event-Driven Architecture: Extensive hands-on experience with Lambda, Step Functions, and EventBridge.

• Backend Engineering: Strong experience developing high-performance APIs and integrating backend services with AWS.

• Microservices & Distributed Systems: Strong understanding of microservices, distributed transactions, eventual consistency, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• DevOps & CI/CD: CodePipeline, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins; Docker and Kubernetes.

• Networking: VPC, Route 53, API Gateway, and CloudFront.

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.

• Security & Compliance: IAM roles and policies, VPC security groups, encryption, and security-first cloud architecture.

• Cloud Optimization: Experience with AWS cost monitoring, right-sizing, reserved instances, and serverless optimization.

Soft Skills

• Communication: Explain complex technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ownership: Demonstrate a 'you build it, you run it' mindset with end-to-end accountability.

• Agile Delivery: Experience working effectively within Agile development and delivery environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Developer – Associate or Professional.

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as AWS Glue, Snowflake, and Amazon Athena.

• Experience in Healthcare or other highly regulated/high-compliance industries.

• Exposure to cloud security, compliance, governance, and regulated environments.

Experience

5+ years of relevant professional experience in AWS/cloud application development, with strong hands-on experience across AWS services, serverless architecture, backend development, microservices, DevOps, and cloud-native application development.
